Bill Zapf Promoted to Partner

Kaiser PLLC is pleased to announce that Bill Zapf has been promoted to Partner at the firm.

“Bill is an extremely talented lawyer who brings tremendous energy and skill our clients’ causes. Whether it’s a Fortune 50 company or a pro bono client with nowhere else to turn, Bill brings the same intensity and dedication needed to get the best result possible,” said Managing Partner Bill Pittard.

Since joining the firm, Bill has brought that talent to bear in a wide variety of civil and criminal litigation matters. In particular, Bill has strengthened the firm’s legal malpractice work on behalf of plaintiffs, most recently as part of the team that reached a settlement in the firm’s representation of Walgreens against its former lawyers in what Law360 called one of the “biggest legal ethics cases of 2023” and leading another settlement this past summer against lawyers who mishandled an important case for another client.

Bill’s other recent accomplishments include a groundbreaking victory before the Virginia Supreme Court that reversed the government’s procedural abuses in a civil confinement case and winning the release of a client sentenced to life without parole for drug offenses after serving 30 years under racially disparate drug sentencing laws.

Prior to joining the firm, Bill clerked for the Honorable Roger W. Titus in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and practiced for nine years at Covington & Burling LLP.

“I am deeply grateful and excited to join the partnership at Kaiser PLLC,” Bill said.  “I look forward to helping lead the firm forward in not only continuing the stellar work we do for our clients, but also in nurturing the wonderful camaraderie that makes this such a special place to practice law.”
